Terminology and my Newbism

Slash -- refers to the presence of a homosexual relationship featuring at least one canon character. May or may not include graphic or explicit sexual content. Derived from the "/" used to indicate the specific characters paired off; orignated by Kirk/Spock (of Star Trek) slash over 40 years ago. Male/male homosexual content is always known as 'slash', while female/female homosexual content may also be known as 'femslash'. This is a frequent squick for many people, so should always be listed in the author's warnings.

Wow. 40 years ago? That makes me feel really young...and newbish (not be mistaken by the term 'n00b')

I've been into fanfiction/fandoms for around...um...8 years. I was never a participant, just an observer and addict of fanfiction. Only in the past year have I become slightly active in the fandoms. I considered it a personal breakthrough to have finally written my own stories (as horrible as they might be).

I'm still damned determined to write some H/D fiction! I will do it!

P.S. I have CHAPTERS coming SOON! They are with my beta. *grins*

It's true. ^^ We have such easy access to smut and adult entertainment it does make our generation more sexual than previous ones. I'd go crazy without the Internet.

LOL. But I think that now it is a little more acceptable to be interested in perverted things as opposed to what was accepted 40 years ago. We also have the the advantage of international communities and corespondance. We get to share our perverted thoughs with a larger group of people. Isn't the internet awesome? ^^

Check out this article here about halfway through is a little story about it being seen at a con by a Star Trek actor. FUNNY!!!

One of the first slash fics I read was a Formula 1 racing fic and my husband read it too. I think it was about 10 years ago. I don't think I've read anything else like that ( since it was about real people)

I didn't even find out about slash from anykind of fanfiction. I was redirected from yaoi comics rather than any existing fandom.
