I have a question for people on my pathetically small f-list, but...for those of you have written your own fiction, has it affected how you read other fanfiction? I used to read lots of fiction....I mean LOTS! Now...since I've written my own, I can't seem to look past the words and understand the 'story' that is actually being written. In order to actually read it and get into it, I have to concentrate hard. I am now extremely picky when it comes to what I read (I used to not be this way). I have to be intersested in the fandom and pairing that person is writing, then...if the writing is horrible I just stop reading it right then.

Is that awful of me?

Don't get me wrong...I try new things...take chances on new pairing I haven't read before. And I usually get addicted to them...lol.

I'm awful at grammar, but I find myself looking at how other authors write their fanfiction. I don't know when I became so...cocky (hehe) about fanfiction....because I am clearly no expert. Hell...I just wrote my first stories in the past two weeks. But I've read them for a long time and to waste time reading a poorly written story is pointless when there are Brilliant writers out there; who take the fucking time to write a fic worth reading.

Anyway...back to my main point....you don't have to answer this bullshit.

If you have written a fic, has it changed the way you read other fanfiction?

Now I'm probably not the best person to be commenting seein' that my fics still need improvement. A LOTT i think..lol. But after you commented on my HichiIchi one, I found myself going to your journal to explore a little and ran into this. I was thinking how your username was familiar and I realized I DID read your fanfics before. hehe, anyway, here's my answer: Barely changes. The only occasion would be when I stumble upon a really bad fic- not crack- just like, HORRIBLE writing, which is rare but it's still out there. The thing is that even if you know their writing styles are different, you'' still want to read b/c people have different imaginations, thank god...lol, I hope I'm not rambling, if so then GOMEN-NE! :3

Please...ramble all you want. I can't believe someone answered this. I really was curious if anyone else reacted the way I did. I do read all kinds of fics(good and bad)...I'm just saying its become difficult in way that it hadn't been before. Thank you for your opinion...I didn't know how other people felt about this! So...Thanks!
