Ruyu: An LJ history
Jan. 13th, 2010 08:51 pm I'm not sure how many teens make up aliases for themselves when they're only 14, but I did. I suppose it's more common now a days with technology. My initial alias was Jade, because to me the name Jessica was the most boring name ever. It's so blah, you know? Jade sounded more daring and made me feel more mysterious. Eh, I was 14 so I forgive myself. ^^
I started my first livejournal when I was 15, my freshman year of high school. I'd already been on an online forum and was comfortable with on-line interactions.
jade1212 was a journal that I shared with my friends from school, and my marching band buddies. It was fun for a while until I really wanted to write more serious stuff. I realized at that point that my journal needed some serious revamping. I was already into web-comics and then I got into the HP fandom and I became completely submerged in it. No lie, it was an obsession.
This journal was created my junior year of high school to mainly house my deviant side and give me a private outlet for my real thoughts and things I enjoyed, but knew no one would approve of. The name Ruyu came from a random name generator and I loved it, and now it feel like it's apart of me. I couldn't imagine another name for me.
I've enjoyed the slow process of making friends on LJ. This journal remained friendless for many years, but I really didn't create it to make friends. I mean, a journal is really about you, having people who read it is just bonus, but shouldn't be the only reason you created one.
And that is the history of my LJ career. Thanks everyone who'd friended me or asked to be friended, and thanks to you folks who find the time to read my ditzy little journal and leave a comment. Livejournal has been my home away from home for a few years now and one of the constants in my life as of late. So, here's to a few more years and hopefully many more after that. ^__^

Date: 2010-01-15 04:37 pm (UTC)Well, I've had this journal for 6 years now and I couldn't possibly leave it. But my first journal was easy to give up, since I wasn't all that dedicated to it.

And, lol, I was so obsessed with Harry Potter way back when. Wasn't even in fandom but holy cow, it was my life. To be honest, I think some very small part of me is still a bit obsessed. Apparently some place (maybe it's disney? I don't know) is making a Harry Potter section in their park. It's going to have that candy shop in it, just like the one in Diagon Alley. I want to go so badly now but...it's so hot down there! This canadian winter girl would melt... DX

Date: 2010-01-16 05:09 am (UTC)Lol. Yeah, me and my LJ have a close bond. *giggles* I finally made the plunge and got a paid account and I love it even more now. I plan on getting a permanent account the next time they offer it and I can afford it. I'm in it for the long-haul.
I'm still obsessed with HP. I wasn't active in the fandom either, but I was a very, very pleased lurker! I've got tons of fanfiction stored that I read over and over again. Who was your OTP or favorite ships? I was and Harry/Draco and a Sirius/Remus lover, among others.
It's Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida - "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter". Crazy, hu? I've never been to Universal Studios, but I'd love to go. ^^ I'm pretty used to the heat, though it's not nearly as bad as Southern Florida's heat and humidity.

Date: 2010-01-16 05:42 am (UTC)I'd like to get a paid account...someday. XD
I actually didn't even think about ships when I first read the series. I read the first three books in grade two, and waited for the rest (or i just simply couldn't find the fourth. Can't remember). So it wasn't until I entered fandom that I knew about ships at all. Although I really liked Severus/Lily and would kill to see some sort of clip of the last movie where it shows that part with poor dying Snape but everyone can be with anyone as far as I'm concerned. XD Especially Harry. I like Ginny and all but...I don't see how they could've fallen in love with so little interaction (or maybe I was just to absorbed in the plot). I may have to hunt down some Harry/Draco fics now...and maybe some Sirius/Remus too. Things with Luna would be nice. I have a soft spot for her. Any suggestions I should check out? :D
If I'm not moving at all I can deal with maximum 15 celcius (Sorry, I don't know faren.. I don't even know how to spell it apparently). Moving around I need it to be a good ole' zero. My mother thinks I'm insane. XD

My favorite Harry/Draco is "On the Wings of the Storm". It's on the list in the link I gave. My two favorite H/D authors are SilentAuror (http://archive.skyehawke.com/authors.php?no=646) and
